What is Shot Peening?
Shot Peening is the process of impacting Spherical Shot onto a surface substrate for the purpose of introducing
a compressive layer below the surface to decrease the
fatigue and cracking associated with metal finishing
tensile stress.

Almen Strips are used to gauge the Intensity of the Shot Peening Process. Shot Peening Intensity is the measure of the energy of the shot stream—the energy of the shot stream is directly related to the compressive stress that is imparted into a part. It’s one of the essential means of ensuring process repeatability. The Advanced Almen Gauges, certified Almen Strips and Almen Strip Holders are the Industry-Standard Tools for measuring Intensity.
#2 Advanced Almen Gauge Precision crafted in the USA, the Electronics Inc. Advanced Almen gauge
continues to be the finest gage on the market. It has all the features needed to
satisfy the most stringent specifications for the #2 type Almen gauge.
Easy-to-read display. The Electronics Inc. gauge has a large digital display that is English/Metric convertible and can be rotated so you can perform the Almen Strip Tests, standing or sitting.

The Model VLP-24 MagnaValve is a normally closed valve used to regulate steel shot
or grit in wheel blast systems. The valve is constructed with a permanent magnet to
hold media until power is applied. An electromagnet cancels the permanent magnet
and allows the media to flow at a controlled rate. A desired flow rate may be achieved
by regulating the voltage to the electromagnet.
The MagnaValve™ is a normally closed magnetic
valve that regulates the flow of steel shot and cut wire media in air blast
machines. The MagnaValve’s built-in sensor measures flow rate and, together with
the FC-24 Controller (sold separately), provides accurate and repeatable flow rates.
The MagnaValve can be factory calibrated for various media types and
sizes.
The MagnaValve™ provides reliable, repetitive and consistant media flow rates for Shot Peening and Blast Cleaning applications.
Laboratory Test Sieves are available to suit most common Shot. Used extensively in the Shot Peening Industry, Test Sieves are the best method for testing the Shot Grade.
Spiral Separators are widely used in the Shot Peening Industry. The Spiral Separator is capable of sorting round Shot from
non-round Shot. The Spiral Separator consists of a tower,
around which is wound an inwardly inclined flight. A catchment funnel is placed
around this inner flight. Round Shot particles roll at a higher speed than non-round Shot, and are flung off the inner flight and into the collection discharge.
Non-round Shot and particles are collected at the waste discharge.
